This service is designed for customers who have existing beekeeping equipment that must be inspected, cleaned, and properly prepared before receiving a new nucleus colony.
Charm City Honey Bees will evaluate the customer’s existing hive equipment and determine which components may be safely reused.
SERVICE INCLUDES:
• Inspection of one existing hive setup
• Evaluation of hive boxes, frames, foundation, inner cover, outer cover, and bottom board
• Inspection for visible wax-moth webbing, cocoons, debris, damaged comb, mold, and other equipment concerns
• Light scraping and cleaning of reusable hive components
• Removal of loose debris, wax-moth webbing, cocoons, and severely damaged comb
• Proper reassembly and preparation of reusable hive equipment
• Recommendations regarding components that should be cleaned, repaired, replaced, or discarded
• Up to 60 minutes of on-site service
THIS SERVICE DOES NOT INCLUDE:
• Installation or transfer of a nucleus colony
• A live honey-bee colony inspection
• Extensive restoration or deep cleaning
• Treatment of diseased or contaminated equipment
• Repairs to damaged hive components
• Replacement boxes, frames, foundation, covers, feeders, bottom boards, or other supplies
The base service covers one hive and light-to-moderate preparation. Additional labor is billed at $75 per hour.
Replacement equipment and supplies are charged separately with the customer’s approval.
Extended travel charges may apply based on the service location.
Customers who would also like Charm City Honey Bees to transfer and install their five-frame nuc must purchase the Nuc Installation & Hive Setup Service separately.
